after 20 year old gale del rosario won a lawsuit against her formal modeling agency, she and her top notch lawyer married in a swanky hotel in the upper east side of manhattan. naturally, the wedding was a large affair, and only people of the utmost importance were invited. a few months later, gale learned she was pregnant with a baby girl, and gave birth to rebecca gale on july 16th, 1992.

the first few years of her new life were as expected. gale dressed her up and paraded her around to all her friends like a little doll, while her husband went on and made the money -- not that they were ever short on cash. the stay at home mom thing didn't last very long, though. gale grew restless and quickly decided that if she couldn't continue to model, she'd dress them instead. that's when things spiraled even further out of control. gale's designs quickly took off and her husband grew more and more busy, there was barely any time spent with baby rebecca. most of her daughter's childhood was spent with her lovely nanny, anita, who raised the little girl like she was her own. sometimes she could be quite strict, but she was the closet thing to a mother that rebecca had.

once her father, richard sterling, realized she needed a real parent in her life, he dismissed the nanny and quickly whisked the family away to sleepy hollow in attempt to start over with them. with anita out of the picture, rebecca grew into quite the daddy's girl, and he spoiled her rotten to make up for all their lost time. if she wanted to be a prima ballerina, you can bet that she got the lessons. school wasn't as easy for her, though. the children were cruel and untrustworthy, you had to be in the popular crowd if you wanted to survive. so taking everything that she'd learned from her dear nanny she approached a group of girls with a smile on her face and introduced herself as 'bex'. with all the lavish things she had in her life it didn't take much to impress them. they welcomed her into their clique with open arms, and two years later she was their queen b.

despite being nothing like those girls, bex played the part well. it was difficult though. she had a certain image to uphold if she wanted to survive her years at sleepy hollow high school, so that meant being ruthless to those that didn't deserve it. there were some that got past her cold exterior and saw her for who she really was, but it took until the end of her junior year before she finally started to take their advice and try to change. by the time her senior year was over her title was stripped and she no longer reigned over the school, but she was finally free. most of her clique turned their noses up at her but those she was closest to stuck by her through thick and thin, that was all that mattered to her. soon after graduation, and with no idea what to do with her life, she moved into a friend's apartment and began work her first job as a barista.

things were rocky for quite some time, and although everyone had seen it coming, her parents finally went through the process of filing for divorce. between her parents, the family home going up for sale, and boy troubles, bex didn't think it could get much worse. then while out walking her dog, she ran into a man who claimed to be her half-brother. there had been another woman before richard had married gale del rosario, and she'd given birth to a son no one ever knew about. shocked by the accusations made against her father, bex had a hard time believing what she was hearing. but then everything began to slowly make sense and she soon realized this had to be the real reason behind her parents not getting along anymore. It took some time to get to know each other but the two of them soon became very close. she'd finally had the sibling she'd always wanted.

time passed on and relationships came and went, leaving bex more and more broken hearted each time. it was not easy for her to get over her troubles, but she somehow always managed. having left for france after her divorce to bex's father, gale returned to new york again to open another one of her clothing line stores in the city. it was no secret that she and her daughter had never got along, but she began to spend as much time with her as she could. and then one day the unthinkable happened: gale suddenly collapsed. after being rushed to the hospital, bex soon learned that her mother had lung cancer. she'd been keeping it a secret and wasn't getting any treatment, assuming it was much too late for that. she wanted to spend her last days happy, not made sick and miserable by medications that would never work. naturally, bex was absolutely furious with her.

barely few months later, gale lost her battle to cancer much sooner than expected, and left her daughter her entire fashion line. it was the last thing bex had ever wanted, and with what felt like the weight of the world on her shoulders, she finally just collapsed emotionally. after seeking a doctor's help it was revealed that she'd been battling with anxiety and depression for most of her life. she made a decision then to take a large step back to try to take care of herself, selling her townhouse in sleepy hollow and signing herself into a treatment facility for two months before leaving to go stay with her grandparents in the hamptons. during that time she signed over 95% of her mother's company over to her business partner and walked away for good.

bex eventually moved back home to be close to friends, but didn't stay long before relationship drama began to pile up and she felt like she was losing herself again. in a quick and hasty decision, she applied to colleges and moved to california to attend the first school that had sent an acceptance letter. college was way more fun than high school had ever been, and she met new friends who made her feel like she really belonged. she even got engaged at one point, but the relationship didn't last due to her fiancee's violent temper.

it's been two years since bex has left sleepy hollow. though she's unsure going back home is a good idea, she hopes her friends and family will welcome her back with open arms.
